First Past the Post
The simplest voting system: everyone gets one vote, and the option with the most votes wins. Used in many major elections.
Why use it?
- Extremely simple to understand.
- Fast to count.
- Decisive results (usually).
Why it fails
- Ignores minority preferences entirely.
- Can lead to tactical voting (not voting for what you actually want).
- Often results in a 'compromise' that nobody really loves.
