Jar Groups: Organize Your Jars with Color-Coded Tags

Create custom groups to categorize your jars — color-code them, assign them in one tap, and navigate with collapsible sections in the Jar Switcher.

01. Why Jar Groups Exist

Power users often have 5, 10, or even 20+ jars — Date Nights, Work Lunches, Book Clubs, Family Chores, Travel Plans, and more. Without organization, the Jar Switcher becomes a long, flat list that's hard to navigate. Jar Groups solve this by letting you categorize your jars into meaningful, color-coded sections.

02. Creating Your First Group

Open 'Manage My Jars' from the Jar Switcher footer. At the top, you'll see the Groups section with a count of how many you've used (e.g., 2/10). Click the '+' icon to reveal the creation form: type a name (like 'Date Nights' or 'Work'), pick one of 8 vibrant colors, and hit 'Add'. Your new group appears as a colored pill. To assign it to a jar, find the jar card below and tap the group's toggle button — it lights up when active.

03. Navigating with Collapsible Groups

Once you've assigned groups, the Jar Switcher transforms. Instead of a flat list, your jars are organized under collapsible group headers — each with the group's color, name, and a count of jars inside. Groups start collapsed by default, so your switcher stays compact. Click any header to expand it and see the jars inside. When you search, all groups auto-expand to show filtered results. Jars without any group appear in an 'Ungrouped' section at the bottom.

04. Best Practices for Power Users

Organize by context, not frequency. Good group names include 'Couple', 'Friends', 'Solo', 'Work', and 'Family'. Keep groups broad — you don't need a separate group for every jar. Use colors strategically: warm colors (red, orange) for social/romantic, cool colors (blue, teal) for work/solo, and green for family/wellness. Your groups are personal — other jar members won't see them, so organize in whatever way makes sense for you.

Common Questions

How many groups can I create?

You can create up to 10 groups per account. Each group has a custom name and one of 8 preset colors for easy identification.

Can a jar belong to multiple groups?

Yes! A jar can be assigned to as many groups as you like. In the Jar Switcher, it will appear under its first assigned group.

Where do I create and manage groups?

Open 'Manage My Jars' from the Jar Switcher dropdown. The Groups section at the top lets you create, view, and delete groups. Each jar card shows toggle buttons to assign or remove groups.

What happens to my jars if I delete a group?

Nothing — deleting a group only removes the tag. Your jars stay exactly where they are. They'll just appear in the 'Ungrouped' section of the Jar Switcher.
