RSVP & Capacity: Know Who's Coming Before You Go

Let group members RSVP to activities with capacity limits, waitlists, and automatic promotion — so organizers always know the headcount.

01. Beyond 'Who's In?'

The hardest part of group planning isn't picking the activity — it's knowing who's actually coming. RSVP eliminates the endless 'Are you coming?' texts by giving every member a one-tap way to confirm their attendance. The organizer sees a live headcount, and the group knows exactly who to expect.

02. Capacity Limits & Waitlists

Some activities have limits — a dinner table seats 8, a hiking group caps at 12 for safety, a cooking class has 6 spots. Set a capacity limit on any idea, and the system enforces it automatically. When the event fills up, latecomers join a waitlist. If someone drops out, the next person is promoted instantly with a push notification.

03. Smart Attendance Tracking

Every RSVP is recorded in the activity's history. Over time, this builds a picture of group engagement — who consistently shows up, who tends to cancel, and which types of activities draw the biggest crowds. This data feeds into Organizer Insights (coming soon) to help group leaders plan better events.

04. Integrated with Your Workflow

RSVP works seamlessly with Calendar Sync (add the event with your RSVP status), Plan Chat (coordinate logistics with confirmed attendees), and Push Notifications (get alerted when spots open up). It's not a bolt-on — it's woven into the coordination stack.

Common Questions

How does RSVP work in Spin the Jar?

Any idea in your jar can accept RSVPs. Members tap the RSVP button to confirm they're attending. Organizers see a real-time headcount and can set capacity limits to prevent overcrowding.

What happens when an event reaches capacity?

New RSVPs are automatically added to a waitlist. If someone cancels, the next person on the waitlist is promoted and receives a push notification letting them know a spot opened up.

Can I RSVP from Events?

Yes! Activities in Events (completed or planned) support RSVPs. This is especially useful for recurring events where you want to confirm attendance for the next occurrence.

Do I need to be an admin to set capacity limits?

No, any member who adds an idea can set a capacity limit. Admins can also edit capacity on any idea in the jar.
